Q1: I have a multi-core processor and the game is running too fast or slow, what can I do?

If you are using an AMD multi-core processor, you may have to change the Affinity settings for the processor to run the game better.

To do this, start the game and then press Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring up the Task Manager. In the processes tab, find elementclient.exe. Right-click on it and choose Set Affinity.

Untick/uncheck all but one CPU, then select OK.

Q2: Will the servers be wiped at the end of Open Beta?

No. There will be no more server wipes. Your characters and items are safe.

Q3: What should I do if I'm having problems with the patcher?

If you that doesn’t help and you need send in a help ticket, use the Ticket System to contact the Tech Support Group and include in your email your DXDiag.

Directions on acquiring your DXDiag:

 

Windows XP

1. Click Start.

2. Click Run.

3. Type in "dxdiag" and then press Enter.

4. When the dixdiag appears, click on "Save All Information".

5. Save the information and attach it to your email when sending in a ticket.

**DO NOT PASTE THE CONTENTS OF THE TEXT INTO YOUR TICKET**

 

Windows Vista

1. Click Start.

2. Type in "dxdiag.exe" in the Search Box and then press Enter.

3. Click on "Save All Information".

4. Save the information and attach it to your email when sending in a ticket.

 

Q4: What should I do if I'm having runtime errors, problems with installing, or keep getting corrupted or missing files, etc?

 

File corruption during the download may be the likely culprit here. Here are some things you can try, and if all else fails you can always contact the Tech Support Group through the Ticketing System.

Q5: I'm stuck. How do I get unstuck?

If you are stuck somewhere in the terrain, here are some ways that you can get unstuck:

1)  Use your Town Portal spell. If you've used it already, you may have to wait for its cool-down period to expire.
2)  Use a teleport item that you can get in-game or purchase in the Boutique.
3)  Press the Call GM button and ask for assistance.
4)  Exit back to the Main Menu and re-login.
5)  If you are at a high enough level for PvP or PKing, ask one of your friends to kill you if nothing else works.

Q6: How do I recover my account ID or password?

If you have forgotten your account ID or password, please use our automated retrieval systems.

Q7: Why am I getting the message, "We cannot provide service to players in your region or to players using open proxies?"

If you’ve received this message, it means that one of three things has occurred:

 

1)  Your account logged in from a banned region (i.e. regions that are blocked due to contractual agreements).

2)  Your IP was blacklisted (banned) by our system.

3)  Your account logged in from behind a proxy and was subsequently blocked.

 

If you are receiving this message, please contact our customer-service group through the Ticketing System. Use the "Banned Region" problem header.

Q8: Why haven't I received my activation/registration email?

There could be a variety of reasons as to why you haven’t received an email. One reason might be is that your email provider has unknowingly blocked us; or maybe our email landed in your spam folder and was neglected. In any case, if you can’t seem to find the email anywhere, contact us through the Ticketing System. At the very least we’ll be able to manually activate your account.

Q9: How long does it usually take for Perfect World's Customer Service Department to respond to emails?

You should generally get a response back in 24 hours. But please be aware that Perfect World's Customer Service Department receives numerous tickets on daily basis. So rest assured knowing that your ticket will be responded to in the order in which it was received. Also, remember to check your spam/junk mail just in case our reply happens to get routed there. Again, we strive for a one day turn-around time, but sometimes it's just not within our power. And yes, we have powers...

Q10: What's your stance on the reselling of digital items?

As iterated in the Terms of Service, all digital items and intellectual property pertaining to any games and/or service provided by Perfect World Entertainment is owned solely by Perfect World Entertainment. You have no specific rights to any of these items or characters except to use them in accordance with the rules set forth by the company. This is different than reselling the items you purchased in the boutique for in-game currency.

1. Item Selling
The selling of virtual/digital goods owned by Perfect World Entertainment for real monies is strictly forbidden except in any instance backed by the company.

2. Character Selling
Character selling is strictly forbidden. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

3. Account Transfer
Account selling, trading, or transferring is not allowed. Basically, once you register an account, it should only be accessed by you.
